If swimming with manatees is on your Florida bucket list, Three Sisters Springs is where it happens. During manatee season — roughly November through March — these gentle giants cluster in the warm, spring‑fed waters, and the numbers can be truly incredible. It’s one of the most popular wildlife experiences in the state for good reason.

If you do want to get in the water with manatees, you’ll need to book a licensed boat or guided swim ahead of time, especially during peak season when spots fill up fast. These guided experiences include snorkel gear and a briefing on the rules (no touching or chasing the manatees).

If you don't want to get wet, you can still have an unforgettable experience. The Three Sisters Springs Visitor Center and boardwalk put you right in the heart of the action with up‑close views from above. The boardwalk loops around several viewing platforms, and seeing manatees just casually cruising in the crystal‑clear water is every bit as magical as snorkeling with them.

A few extra tips to make your visit smoother:

  • Go early — mornings are quieter and the water tends to be calmest.

  • Check the season calendar before you plan; manatee numbers and tour availability vary throughout winter.

  • Even if you’re not swimming, stay patient and quiet on the boardwalk — manatees move slowly and quietly too, and you’ll often get the best sightings when you slow down and just watch.

Whether you’re in the water with the manatees or watching them from the boardwalk, Three Sisters Springs is one of those Florida experiences that's unforgettable.
