Lake Prespa is an amazing natural wonder nestled between North Macedonia, Albania and Greece. This lake system offers a unique landscape unlike anything else in the Balkans - two lakes, separated by an isthmus, surrounded by the majestic mountains of the Dinaric Alps. The Great Prespa Lake holds an amazing 259 square kilometres of water, while the Little Prespa Lake holds 46.3 square kilometers. Here you can find some unique wildlife, such as endangered endemic fish, as well as rare species of birds. There are also regionally significant monasteries and churches that still stand on some of the islands dotting the Great Prespa Lake. All these things combine to make this truly special landscape one that is not to be missed!
