Djúpidalur is a sheep farm located by highway 60. The farm has long been a destination for travelers for many years as a guest house but recently a campground was added to the farm. Djúpidalur is most famous for its geothermal water. Djúpidalur has a campground, huts, swimming pool and a guesthouse. It's possible to receive small groups since there is a fairly large dining area in the new 150m2 facility house.
Pets are welcome to visit with owners in Djúpidalur campground. Owners are responsible for their pets actions and safety during a stay at the campsite. Please keep in mind that Djúpidalur is a farm so other animals such as orphaned lambs and a dog are living at the farm. Owners are required to pick up and dispose properly of their pets' feces and keep the pet on a leach at all times.
Djúpidalur is a perfect place to stop on your way around Vestfirðir or as a base camp when traveling around nearby areas. Látrabjarg, Dynjandi, Reykhólar, Hólmavík and Ísafjarðardjúp are all sites visitors could take day trips to from Djúpidalur. The nearest convenience store is located in Reykhólar about 40 minutes drive from Djúpidalur.
