Fun fact :) this was my very first train ride in Switzerland before I lived here. The train looks incredible in winter with all the snow - way better than summer in my opinion. You cross the famous Landwasser Viaduct and go through the spiral Brusio loop. Takes you from Switzerland to Italy through some serious mountain scenery.
My recommendation if you can't afford it : just take the regular trains on the same route. Same views, way cheaper, runs approximately every hour, and you can actually open the windows for photos.
Tips
Winter is best to me- fewer tourists and the snow makes everything look amazing
Swiss Travel Pass covers it - you just pay for seat reservation
4 hours Chur to Tirano, or 2h15 from St. Moritz
Bring food - train have just expensive snacks, no food
Sit on the right side when traveling from Chur/St. Moritz to Tirano
