Silvretta Glacier, located in the kanton of Graubünden, offers a breathtaking chance to experience nature up close. The Silvretta Glacier Trail, open since 2007, offers incredible 360° views of stunning and unique glacial landscapes, wildlife and an in-depth knowledge of how glaciers are formed.
HIKE DETAILS:
Start: Alp Sardasca. To get here you either need to walk from Klosters Mobnbiel Parkplatz ( an extra hour walk) or take the local alpine taxi.
From Alp Sardasca the ascent begins, in 2 hours with around 4,5 km with 1000 meters of elevation gain you can reach Silvretta hut where you can also spend the night.
The hut is the starting point to the glacier, and the trail offers 15 boards with fascinating informations about how glaciers forms, flora and fauna, alpinism and global warming. The glacier trail is a circular trail , takes 1,5 hours to complete.
TIP: once you reach the view point of the glacier you can hike down, to experience it even closer :)
