The Land of Serpents

Land of Serpents is a slow travel guide through the Atlantic edge of the Iberian northwest — from the ancient rock shrine of Senhor da Pedra, south of Porto, to Pedra da Serpe (Stone of the Serpent) in Galicia. Many special places across northern Portugal and northwestern Spain, mapped along a coast where pre-Roman memory runs close to the surface: castros built above the sea, megalithic stones still standing in fields, ritual bath houses fed by living springs, promontories where the old world ends and the Atlantic begins.
