Shobak Castle, also known as Montreal Castle, is a historic Crusader castle located in Jordan. Built in 1115 by Baldwin I of Jerusalem, the castle sits on a rocky mountain overlooking fruit orchards. It was strategically important for controlling trade routes between Egypt and Syria. Despite its impressive fortifications, the castle fell to Saladin in 1189 after a lengthy siege.
