Devonport is a little village on the north shore of Auckland, sandwiched between Takapuna and the Auckland city harbour.
When you arrive, you'll find that Devonport is packed with art galleries, restaurants, and boutique shops located right on the waterfront. But the most beautiful part of the town is the village itself. Devonport is one of the oldest suburbs in Auckland and still has a lot of its early Victorian and Edwardian character. You could spend a couple of hours just wandering around!
There's a short (10-minute) ferry ride connecting Devonport with Auckland CBD, which gives you nice views of the city and waterfront.
Things to do in Devonport
If you want to explore, head up to the top of Takarunga Mt Victoria, or Maungauika North Head, which has incredible views over the city. There's also a lovely beach walk to Takapuna that I highly recommend doing. While you're there, stop at the Takapuna Beach Cafe for a coffee or an ice cream.
If you'd prefer to explore further afield, you can catch a ferry from Devonport to Rangitoto Island or Waiheke Island - a must-do in Auckland!
