The Red Creek Fir is, by volume, the largest Douglas fir tree in the world. It is 73.8m tall and 4.2m wide. This huge tree has to be seen to be believed! It is accessible via a 1km return hiking trail.

The access road to the Red Creek Fir trailhead is an unpaved industrial road. A high clearance vehicle is essential, with 4X4 preferable. Recent updates indicate that an additional 3km detour is necessary from the regular route due to bridge construction.

Do not use Google Maps to navigate - there are good directions on the Ancient Forest Alliance website. Tell someone where you're going, drive defensively with headlights on, bring a good spare tire, give way to industrial vehicles and be prepared for zero phone signal after leaving the highway. There is very little signage. Please be well prepared for this trip!
