This viewpoint is named for the funky looking rock formations that sit just above the river. These hoodoos are a result of years of erosion. The hoodoos aren't the only reason to visit this viewpoint area - there are great views of Mount Rundle and the Bow River as well.
From the parking area, a paved path leads to several different viewpoints, each with interpretive information. The total distance is about 300m, so plan to spend about 10-15 minutes here. Take a break on the Parks Canada red chairs.
We often see herds of elk in this area so keep your eyes peeled for wildlife!
A Parks Canada parks pass is required to explore Banff National Park ($22/day for a vehicle of up to 7 people).
