La Chorrera, located in the San Juan parish near Riobamba, Ecuador, offers a thrilling combination of extreme sports, camping, astrophotography, bird watching, a stream, and a waterfall, all amidst a spectacular rock formation. The climbing walls cater to all skill levels, from beginners to experts. Positioned along the Riobamba – Guaranda road, the canyon provides breathtaking views, and despite only a fraction of its trails being equipped, there are already 100 climbing routes in place. While accommodation is available in the community, camping in the canyon is recommended for a more immersive experience. Visitors can leave their vehicles at Hostería La Chorrera and embark on a 30-minute walk to the site. Given its proximity to Chimborazo, be prepared for low temperatures and strong winds, necessitating careful consideration of the required equipment.
