Kuzuryu Shrine is a historic spot located near the shores of Lake Ashi in Motohakone and Hakonemachi. It enshrines an ancient nine-headed dragon god named Kuzuryu, who was believed to have been tamed by the ascetic priest Mangan centuries ago. Visitors to the shrine can experience the annual Kuzuryu Festival, held on June 13th each year, where a special festival boat departs from Moto-Hakone for a 20-minute journey to the shrine. The boat can get quite crowded as many people come seeking luck in matters of love! Take a walk along the shore to explore the small torii gate standing in the waters just off the shore - this marks the entrance to the shrine. Plan ahead to fully experience all that Kuzuryu Shrine has to offer!
