🧊 Múlajökull Glacier

🗺️ How to Get There:
Drive north on F26 (Sprengisandsleið) until you reach the marked turnoff toward Hágöngulón, this will connect with another road, Kvíslarveituvegur. Continue north for for 5 more minutes until you find a turnoff into a black sand trail going to the left, this is the road you want to take (the aprox coordinates of the start of this road are: 64°37'48.4"N 18°29'38.9"W) The track is rough, rocky, and only accessible to proper high-clearance 4x4 vehicles in summer, but no river crossings.

Continue following the trail until it dead-ends near the glacier tongue. This area is remote, so bring extra fuel, supplies, and ensure good weather conditions before venturing out.

Late June to early September
The road is only open in summer, and the glacier pools are most colorful during this period.

Early morning for soft sidelight over the glacier’s crevasses
Late afternoon for long shadows on the moraines and ridgelines

Recommended gear:
Drone is a must here, . Bring extra batteries and ensure it's not too windy as this is a long distance flight, a minimum of 2kms is required in order to get a proper view of the glacier.

Composition ideas:
This is a drone paradise, from abstract aerials to wide landscape shots of the glacier tongue surrounded with all the colorful pools.
Make sure to use the river braids and moraine curves as leading lines towards the glacier.
Don't focus only on the glacier itself, the surroundings are equally beautiful and abstract!
