Best time to visit Lanzarote

🇬🇧 Are you sure that the weather in Lanzarote is good all year round?

Well it's true that temperatures in Lanzarote never drop below 15-16º, but living here I learned that there are some variables to consider when it's time to choose when to visit this island.

In general it's a windy island, the north is colder than the south with like 5º of difference and yes, it rains here too! There are several microclimates on the island.

• JANUARY - MARCH: these are the coldest months. Temperatures vary from 14 to 18/20º but the wind is cold and it often rains (especially in the north), the cool thing is that you can see a lot of rainbows!

• APRIL - MAY: here comes the spring. These are strange months because it could be both hot and cold during the day it may rains sometimes and the wind always change, the weather is like bipolar but nothing to be afraid of!

• JUNE - AUGUST: temperatures are between 25-30º, but contrary to what you think they are very windy months! There are also the perfect conditionts to practice sports like surf and windsurf.

• SEPTEMBER - DECEMBER: this is the real summer for locals! These are the least windy days of the year so it's pleasant to stay at the beach even for people who are more sensitive to cold.

What about CALIMA?

Calima is a meteorological phenomenon characterized by the presence of very small suspended particles of dust, ash, clay and sand that comes from Sahara desert and is normally accompanied by hot air, thus increasing the temperature.

It can be more or less intense and unfortunately there isn't a precise period in which it is more present. It usually doesn't cause a problem unless it's really very intense but this happens very rarely!

LOW & HIGH SEASON

Personally I would avoid the first months of the year due to the uncertain climate and Easter week because the island get full of people.

Besides that, Lanzarote is beautiful all year round and as I told you the weather is different every year!

🇮🇹 Siete sicuri che il tempo a Lanzarote sia bello tutto l'anno?

Beh è vero che le temperature a Lanzarote non scendono mai sotto i 15-16º, ma vivendo qui ho imparato che ci sono alcune variabili da considerare quando è il momento di scegliere quando visitare quest'isola.

Ci sono diversi microclimi sull'isola, in generale è un'isola ventosa, il nord è più freddo del sud con circa 5º di differenza e sì, piove anche qui!

• GENNAIO - MARZO: sono i mesi più freddi. Le temperature variano dai 14 ai 18/20º ma il vento è freddo e piove spesso (soprattutto al nord), la cosa bella è che di arcobaleni si vedono un sacco!

• MARZO - MAGGIO: arriva la primavera. Sono mesi strani perché di giorno può fare sia caldo che freddo, a volte può piovere e il vento cambia sempre, il tempo è tipo bipolare ma niente di cui aver paura!

• GIUGNO - AGOSTO: le temperature sono comprese tra i 25-30º ma al contrario di quanto si pensa sono mesi molto ventosi! Ci sono anche le condizioni perfette per praticare sport come surf e windsurf.

• SETTEMBRE - DICEMBRE: questa è la vera estate per i locali! Questi sono i mesi meno ventosi dell'anno quindi è piacevole stare in spiaggia anche per le persone più freddolose.

NB. queste sono informazioni generali ma a causa dei cambiamenti climatici ogni anno è diverso.

MA PARLIAMO DI CALIMA

La calima è un fenomeno meteorologico caratterizzato dalla presenza di piccolissime particelle sospese di polvere, cenere, argilla e sabbia che provengono dal deserto del Sahara e normalmente sono accompagnate da aria calda, aumentando così la temperatura.

Può essere più o meno intenso e purtroppo non esiste un periodo preciso in cui sia più presente. Di solito non crea problemi a meno che non sia davvero molto intenso ma questo accade molto raramente!

BASSA E ALTA STAGIONE

Personalmente eviterei i primi mesi dell'anno a causa del clima incerto e la settimana di Pasqua perché l'isola si riempie letteralmente di gente.

Oltre a ciò, Lanzarote è bella tutto l'anno e come vi dicevo ogni anno il meteo è differente!
