The Real Gabinete Português de Leitura is one of the most stunning buildings in the city center of Rio. The visit is free and it is incredibly well preserved. Elected the fourth most beautiful library in the world by Time magazine, the Cabinet has the largest collection of Portuguese literature outside Portugal.

PS: The area around the reading room can seem a bit sketchy, but the building itself is worth a visit!
