Halászbástya, or Fisherman’s Bastion, is one of Budapest’s most iconic viewpoints, located on Castle Hill next to Matthias Church. Built in a neo-Romanesque style, its white stone towers and terraces offer breathtaking panoramic views over the Danube, the Hungarian Parliament, and the Pest side of the city.
The lower terraces are free to visit, while the upper lookout levels require a small entrance fee. The area is especially popular at sunrise and sunset, making it one of the best photography spots in the city. It can be easily combined with Buda Castle and a walk through the Castle District.
Price: Lower terraces free; upper terraces approx. 3–4 EUR
Tips: Visit early morning for fewer crowds and soft light; ideal spot for sunrise photos.
