The Tukga hut is a newly completed hut in the stunning coastal town of Haines, Alaska. It's a strenuous hike up to the hut but it honestly offers some of the most rewarding views I've ever seen of Alaska. The hut is heated and has fully setup kitchen with a propane stove so I would highly reccomend making yourself a fancy meal while you're up there.
There's lots to explore once you're in the alpine so I would reccomend giving yourself 2+ nights there.
It is open all year round. In the winter you would need to backcountry ski or snowshoe in and it is in avalanche terrain. The lower half of the trail will be very icey so bring crampons and the upper half can have deep powder so make sure you're properly equipped with avalanche safety gear as well as aware of the forecast. I would recommend this as winter route from December to April.
If you aren't able to book the cabin you can still absolutely day hike in this area!
Enjoy a wild adventure!
