Blowhole Beach is a quiet, rugged spot tucked away in Deep Creek Conservation Park on South Australia’s Fleurieu Peninsula. We parked at the lookout above the cliffs and took the 2 km walking trail down to the beach. The track is straightforward but steep in parts, with great views of the ocean along the way. We passed a few kangaroos grazing in the open bush — they didn’t seem too bothered by people walking nearby.

There’s a separate track for vehicles, but it’s pretty rough — definitely four-wheel drive only. At the bottom, the beach opens up: about 200 metres of sand framed by rocky headlands, with hardly anyone around. Not long after we arrived, we spotted a small pod of dolphins riding the waves just offshore.

The water looked clear but a bit wild, with visible rips, so swimming didn’t seem like a great idea. Still, there were a couple of fishermen casting from the rocks and doing pretty well.

Blowhole Beach isn’t the easiest spot to get to, but that’s part of the appeal — it’s quiet, scenic, and feels pretty untouched. If you're up for the hike or have a capable vehicle, it’s a solid place to spend a few hours away from the crowds.
