De Palm Tours Aruba Arikok NP tour

Touren

Best tour to help you explore Arikok National Park

For a whole different side of the island you should certainly visit this nature area of 7,907 acres on the east side, covering 20% of the island!

With its varied desert-like landscape and rugged coastline it has plenty of photo opportunities, especially if you like beautiful viewpoints, wide nature settings and cacti!

Note that you are required to pay a small fee for the preservation of the park at the entrance. And I can highly recommend booking a guided tour directly via the headquarters of Arikok NP, or Palm Tours, to find all the best and most Instagrammable spots.

3

Arikok National Park

Aktivität

National Park hiking

Aruba’s national parks are all treasures, and the Arikok National Park is no exception. Nearly 20% of Aruba is a designated National Park and home to a long list of natural wonders, animal species and plant life. The Arikok National Park is home to rare priceless gems that are indigenous to our island.

The Arikok National Park is a great place to spend the entire day enjoying the dramatic landscapes. There is an entrance fee of $15, and free for kids, that goes towards the preservation of the park, educational programs and the animals who roam freely throughout the 7907 acres.

There are many things to do in Arikok National Park. The place is home to a variety of unique attractions and cultural heritage sites, including spectacular caves, original Indian rock drawings, unusual land formations made from lava, quartz diorite and limestone, guided nature walks through dry river beds to secluded bays like Moro, Boca Prins and Dos Playa. The monthly 'Movie in the Park’, watching a movie in open air under the stars, is worth a visit and a memorable experience for the entire family. Admission for this activity is free, except for the park fee.

4

Quadirikiri Cave

Sightseeing

Spectacular cave with several photogenic spots

Besides wildlife and nature Arikok is also home to several cultural heritage sites. Including caves, original Indian rock drawings and unique land formations made from lava, quartz diorite and limestone. We visited the Quadirikiri cave, which were nothing less than spectacular! This spot is included in an Arikok NP tour with de Palm Tours.

5

Fontein Cave

Sightseeing

Photogenic and historic cave with drawings

Highly recommend historic cave with Indian drawings. This spot is included in an Arikok NP tour with de Palm Tours.

6

Boca Prins

Strand

Spectacular deserted beach in the east

Spectacular deserted beach, amidst the sand dunes of Aruba. Also not advised to swim here, but perfect to chill with with nothing but nature all around! Nearby you can also have some drinks and snacks with a view at Boca Prins Restaurant.

7

Dos Playa

Strand

Photogenic secluded beach in the east

Even though Aruba is known for tropical and white beaches, the east side is much more rugged and wild! However no less photogenic.

Not suitable for swimming due to the strong undertow, but perfect for the more experienced surfer.

8

Conchi natural pool

Sightseeing

Natural pools on the rugged east coast

Experience true adventure at Aruba's most remote, yet also most popular nature attraction, the famous Natural Pool. In a unique rock formation, volcanic stone circles a small depression, creating a tranquil pool: Aruba's Natural Pool.

On a deserted stretch of coastline, dramatic shows of water spraying over the rock occurs on a regular basis as the tide rushes to shore. The unique natural pool is also known as 'Conchi' (bowl) or 'Cura di Tortuga' (Turtles Cove) and located inside Aruba's national park Arikok.

The location of the Pool is surrounded by some of Aruba's most rugged terrain, so a visitor truly gets the feeling of having "discovered" something when they reach the site, by either foot, horseback or 4x4 vehicle. Because of the nature of the environment in this secluded area, the site is inaccessible by a regular car. This activity is free to visit, but only reachable on a tour by UTV, jeep or bike, or with your own jeep after paying $15 admission to Arikok National Park.

9

Natural Bridge

Sightseeing

Rugged east coast and natural bridge site

Explore the rugged northern shore of Aruba and discover many natural bridges on your way; some small, yet all true gems.

For thousands of years, pounding waves and strong winds have slowly chiseled away at the limestone cliffs along Aruba’s north coast to create several natural bridges.

Before collapsing in 2005, the largest and most photographed of these bridges was the famous Natural Bridge between the Bushiribana gold mine ruins and Andicuri Beach. The remains of this bridge are still a tourist attraction in Aruba, with the adjacent intact Baby Bridge also meriting a visit.

The Natural Bridge area boasts a souvenir shop and snack bar with refreshments in a replica cunucu house. This activity is free to visit!

Other gorgeous natural bridges can be found in the southern part of the island near Black Stone Beach where you’ll find a unique tripod bridge.

10

Bushiribana Gold Mine Ruins

Sightseeing

Free to access goldmine ruins by the sea

Experience remnants of Aruba's gold history at various sites throughout the island, including gold mines and gold mills.

Now known as Aruba, a colorful history of gold prospectors has shaped the island's history, dating back to the 1400's and 1500's, when adventurers searched the Caribbean for wealth and treasures.

Arikok national park houses the remains of historic gold mines at Miralamar. In addition there are two gold mills on island. On the northern coast sits the abandoned Bushiribana gold mill that once processed ore from mines in the nearby hills during Aruba's gold rush of the nineteenth century. This place is free to access.

Fun fact: In 1824, gold was finally discovered in Aruba, and eventually, the industry produced more than 3 million pounds of gold. This activity is free to visit!

11

Hooiberg

Aktivität

Best view hiking spot

The Hooiberg, meaning “haystack” in Dutch, is the cone-shaped mountain that rises 540 feet up from the center of the Island. The 550-plus steps on the side of the mountain lead to breathtaking panoramic views of Aruba! Best hiked early in the morning, before it gets too hot or during sunset, for the best views. This activity is free to visit!

Bohemian Bar & Restaurant

Restaurant

Upscale restaurant in a lush garden

This stylish restaurant in a lush garden was one of the highlights of my foodie tour of Aruba. The laid-back atmosphere here was perfect, accompanied by live lounge music, super friendly waiters, and a big variation of French-oriented delicious dishes to choose from.

Make sure to add this hotspot to your list for high quality food in a romantic atmosphere.
