This is a place you absolutely do not want to miss in Chiang Mai!đ Buatong Sticky Waterfall has gotten its name from the crazy feature that you can actually WALK up the waterfall itself.Â
While itâs not actually âstickyâ, the rocks under the waterfall have such a solid grip that you can easily walk up the ground despite water rushing past your feet. This is an absolute must-visit in Chiang Mai and it is SO much fun! You can easily spend a few hours here going up and down the waterfall!
GET HERE:
1 hour outside of Chiang Mai old town. Take your own transport or join a tour. I know thereâs quite a few on GetYourGuide! Perfect to visit on the same day as Dantewada Land of Angels as theyâre quite close to each other (thatâs what we did). If you take a tour make sure to take one that combines Buatong Sticky Waterfall and Dantewada!
When you arrive thereâs a big parking lot, a big open grass area, toilets and a couple of restaurants. If you walk to the left youâll come to the waterfall. Then walk down the steps to get to the bottom layer. Here is where you will start your climb up the waterfall!
ENTRY FEE:
Free to visit, you just need to sign your name on a piece of paper when you arrive.Â
đđŒ TIP: Take off your shoes and either carry them, or leave them at the top or the bottom of the stairs. We had sandals so we put them in our backpack.Â
TIP: Wear clothes you can easily move in and donât mind getting wet. Preferably shorts or just swimwear like I did! You donât actually really get wet except for maybe your legs and arms while climbing, but just in case.
âïžThe very top section of the waterfall can actually become slippery in places so take extra care here and hold onto the ropes!
