Belmore Falls in the Southern Highlands showcases some seriously breathtaking views. This majestic two-tiered waterfall cascades down the mountainside with such force that it’s hard to truly grasp its scale until you’re standing there. Unfortunately, you can’t get to the base of the falls due to safety concerns. There are some unmarked trails you might find online if you're feeling adventurous, but I didn’t follow them, so I can't offer much advice on those.
You’ve got three main lookouts to enjoy the falls, though they’re all a bit of a distance away. The first lookout is a quick 2-minute walk from the car park. The second lookout is about a 5-minute stroll further along a flat path and offers a slightly closer view, though it’s still distant. The third lookout, which gives you a bird’s-eye view of the water cascading down, is at the top of the falls. To get there, drive across a river crossing on Belmore Falls Road, park on the side of the road (there’s no formal car park), and walk 2 minutes to the lookout.
Now, if you’re itching to explore beyond Belmore Falls, there’s a hidden waterfall just around the corner (photos 2,4 and 5 show these falls). To find it, head to an unmarked car park at these coordinates: 34°38'21.3"S 150°33'37.6"E. From there, follow the trail for about 10 minutes. It’s a bit overgrown since it’s a secret spot, so you’ll need to push through. When I visited, the waterfall was incredibly green and vibrant, it's a fantastic addition to a Belmore Falls adventure. Enjoy the hidden gem!
