Frangokastello Castle was built by the Venetians in the 14th century to control the rebellious Sfakia region and protect their interests. The locals nicknamed it "Castle of the Franks," and it has a rich history of battles and legends, including the mysterious "Dew Men" who are said to march towards the fortress each May. Today, the castle stands as a ruin, surrounded by a scenic sandy beach.

Good to know

The castle is open from 8AM until 6PM and is closed on sunday.
