Ok guys, this place is one remote destination that's for sure! Previously an island that housed a large military base presence, it also boasts a large caribou hunting area. People today pretty much only travel here for caribou hunting, checking out the military history with all the leftover buildings and bunkers, bird watching, or remote backpacking.

NOTE: for lodging, there is only one place that oversees several of the previous military housing units available for visitors. You can also rent a vehicle or 4-wheeler if needed. The only restaurant and store has various hours, so bringing your own food with you is a good idea! Alaska Airlines services flights to Adak Island twice a week depending on the weather.
