The Abbey Caves Reserve features dramatic limestone outcrops and a loop walkway with established native trees.
Abbey Caves in Whangarei offer a wild and exciting adventure with three undeveloped caves filled with glow worms. The loop walk connecting the caves is easy, but each cave requires some scrambling to enter. Organ Cave has slot canyon vibes and deep water sections, Middle Cave is the easiest with great glow worm displays, and Ivy Cave is the most adventurous with cascades and intimate glow worm scenes. Remember to take care of the caves and glow worms, and enjoy this unique experience just a short drive from Whangarei town center!
