South of Thailand: 2 weeks
14 Tage

What you'll do

It's hard to squeeze all Thailand has to offer in just two weeks. This itinerary focuses on Bangkok, Khao Sok, and two islands to give you some culture, nature, and time to unwind at the beach. If you don't want to move destinations every two days, this is the perfect leisurely itinerary.

This is an ideal route if you are flying in and out of Bangkok. If you have a flight leaving from a different airport, the route can be even more seamless with less travel days.

Day 1

Arrive in Bangkok. Settle in and start exploring!

1

Wat Arun

Sightseeing

Iconic Buddhist temple in Bangkok

Wat Arun, also known as the Temple of Dawn, is a famous Buddhist temple in Bangkok, Thailand. Its distinctive spire, encrusted with colorful porcelain, stands out along the Chao Phraya River. Originally built in the 17th century, you can access Wat Arun by ferry across the river and explore its ornate architecture.

I would recommend paying for a guide here because there is so much fascinating history that you would miss out on if simply admiring the temples.

Don't forget to cover up! Women need to cover their shoulders and knees while men need to cover their shoulders. Think long skirts, pants, and shawls or t-shirts. Also I recommend to wear sandals because every temple you enter you have to take off your shoes. So having an easy shoe to remove will keep things moving.

2

Wat Chana Songkhram Ratchaworamahawihan

Sightseeing

Historic Buddhist temple in Bangkok

Wat Chana Songkhram Ratchaworamahawihan, also known as Wat Chana Songkhram (because I dare ya to say the full name), is a Buddhist temple in Bangkok located near Khaosan Road. It has a rich history dating back to before 1782 and was once a center for Mon Buddhism. Renamed to celebrate Thai victories over the Burmese, this temple is now open to visitors every day, free of charge!

If you like, you can purchase a "gift" for the monks who live there and participate in an offering ceremony where a monk thanks you by giving you a water blessing.

Make sure to cover up! Women must cover their shoulders and knees and men just the shoulders.

3

Cafe Mumbai Khaosan

Restaurant

Authentic Indian food in Bangkok

Cafe Mumbai Khaosan in Bangkok is some of the best Indian food I've ever had. I know what your thinking...Indian food in Thailand? But I promise you will not regret it.

Get the butter prawns and garlic naan and thank me later! This restaurant has a super cozy atmosphere with floor seating, fun decor, and live music in the evenings.

4

Tichuca Rooftop Bar

Bar

Trendy rooftop bar with unreal views

Tichuca is a trendy jungle-themed rooftop bar in Bangkok. You might have seen it on Insta or TikTok due to its LED-lit “tree” behind the bar. It is a bit of a tourist trap with most people there just to take pictures of the bar and the view but it's still worth a visit due to the multi-level city viewpoints and solid cocktails.

You have to line up at the ground floor and pre purchase your drink to ensure everyone buys something. The drinks are deff overpriced for Thailand but it's still a cute vibe for a little splurge.
