The Galerie Vivienne is a beautiful covered passage in Paris, located in the 2nd arrondissement. Built in 1823, covered passages became popular in the 19th century as a way to offer a shopping precinct, out of the rain and the weather. It's one of the prettiest spots in Paris, and is off the tourist trail despite being only a short walk from the Louvre & the Jardin des Tuileries.
