Reynisfjara Beach is the most famous black sand beach in all of Iceland. This studding stretch of sand is located on the south coast, close to the village of Vik and the famous Skogafoss waterfall. It's a very popular spot on the south coast, and almost every south coast tour bus will stop here.

It's mostly known for its dramatic basalt columns and powerful waves, and is a favourite spot for photographers. The beach is framed by towering cliffs and features unique rock formations like the Reynisdrangar sea stacks that rise majestically from the ocean.

We absolutely love this place and have visited multiple times in the past few years. The waves are dangerous but captivating, and we've ever spotted whales out in the distance here once! It's a magical spot and well worth a visit.
