Nachricht von Aron Tómas Guðmannsson

The Hvítá bridge is a single-lane road bridge in western Iceland that crosses the Hvítá river. It was opened in 1928 and designed by Icelandic engineer Árni Pálsson. The bridge consists of two arches with a total length of 106 meters and has a load limit of 6 tons per vehicle. Before the bridge over Borgarfjörður was built in 1981, it was a key connection between northern and southern Iceland. In 2002, it was recognized as the most outstanding engineering project of the 1920s in Iceland.
