Deep in the Arabian Desert lies the ancient AlUla Oasis, a place where life has flourished for millennia. A wetter climate carved a huge water catchment long ago that fed the wadi of the region, and today the water table rises close to the surface, creating a haven of lush plants, animals, and ultimately, humans. The oasis developed its own irrigation system through wells and qanats which allowed them to farm large strips of land and support a large population. Water became so integral with everyday life that it was embedded into rituals and customs. With modern technology still preserving the old ways, travelers can follow their footsteps and experience something of the wonder of the oasis.
