During the time I visited, Burundi was going through a fuel scarcity crisis. Gas costs around $13 a gallon due to this and can only be bought on the black market. When hiring a driver, we would pay for the services and fuel separately as it can vary so much. Be aware of the current fuel prices to understand how this will impact transportation.
