Garmo Stave Church is an historic building situated at the Maihaugen museum in Lillehammer, Norway. The church is believed to have been built in 1021 by a Viking chieftain and was expanded into a cruciform timber church in 1730. After Garmo Church was built in 1879, the stave church was dismantled and its materials sold. Luckily, Anders Sandvig purchased the church and rebuilt it at Maihaugen in 1920-1921. As visitors explore the interior of the Garmo Stave Church today, they will be surrounded by exquisite 17th and 18th century details, including a claystone baptismal font from the 1100s and stunning altarpiece from 1695. It's a insight to Norway from centuries ago - a truly unique and enchanting experience!
