Embark on the Sugarloaf Path for a rewarding hike that starts just beside the Ocean Science Centre. Here, not only do you have convenient parking, but you can also catch a glimpse of the playful harp seals housed at the centre—a delightful way to start your adventure.
The trail begins with an uphill climb that quickly rewards you with stunning coastal views. Once you reach the top, the path levels out and takes you through a lush forest setting. Keep in mind, the trail does pass near Robinhood Bay landfill, so you might spot some trash along the edges—just a reminder of why we need to protect these beautiful natural spaces.
After crossing a road, you'll encounter a series of staircases built into the rock wall. This section can be quite steep, but push through, as you're soon greeted with panoramic views of Quidi Vidi Lake and the surrounding areas that are absolutely breathtaking.
The final descent takes you down into Quidi Vidi's "gut," a charmingly narrow inlet. After the hike, consider visiting Quidi Vidi village itself. This quaint fishing village is the perfect place to unwind and reflect on your hike.
