Turku Castle is one of the biggest landmarks in the Southwest Coast and one of the most gorgeous attractions to visit! This castle dates back to the late 13th century and it is the oldest surviving medieval building in Finland.

This is one of my favorite places in Turku and no matter how many times I visit, I never get bored with this. This place is gorgeous in every season, but my favorite is summer (June-August) when the castle garden has beautiful flowers blooming. You can get gorgeous photos then!

COST: The outdoor area is completely free, you can explore the garderns and flowers and even have a peaceful picnic on the grass area. There is a huge grass area behind the castle where locals often go to sunbathe during the summer. To explore the inside of the castle that cost 16€ from adults, children pay less. But it is totally worth the money!!

You can explore the impressive halls, dungeons, and exhibitions that delve into Finnish history and culture. The castle also hosts events and activities throughout the year, making it a lively spot for both locals and tourists.

TIPS: It's a bit farther from the main Turku centre, so I recommend taking a bus there. By walking it can take about 45 minutes. I recommend going during the weekdays, it can be more quiet then so you can explore peacefully. Also, if you don't like crowds maybe avoid the free entry days that Turku sometimes have for museums, it can very crowded then.

This is also a popular spot for locals to hang out, walk their dogs or just enjoy picnics during the summer. So if you want to take photos here, come early in the morning.
