If you’re up for a long, scenic wander, this East Coast Trail path totally delivers.
You’ll hike past the iconic Ferryland Lighthouse, the massive Berry Head Sea Arch (seriously—it looks stunning!), and tucked-away abandoned settlements like Ryan’s Garden and Clear Cove. Along the way, look out for steep coves, bobbing seals, wild orchids, lady slippers, and even pitcher plants. If you're lucky, you might spot some seabirds and snag a handful of wild berries too!
Just a heads-up: this trail is long (like, really long—20.4 km roundtrip!) with no easy exit points, so pack plenty of snacks and water. Berry Head Arch is right in the middle, about a 3-hour hike from either trailhead. If you're not starting early, consider picking a shorter section to explore.
And one more thing: crossing Chance Pond River can be tricky after rain, and there are very limited facilities—so plan ahead if you’re starting from Aquaforte or Port Kirwan.
