With a surface area of 71 hectares and a depth of 135 meters, this reservoir is quite impressive! The arch dam Gigerwald, standing tall at 147 meters, adds to the awe-inspiring scenery. Whether you're a nature lover or simply seeking a peaceful escape, Gigerwaldsee is definitely worth a visit.
HIKE DETAILS:
Start at Vättis, dorf bus stop. The hike to the lake is pretty straightforward, you either follow the road to the dam or hike through the forest.
Approximately 12 km round trip and can take 3-4 hours to complete.
FUN FACT:
While at the dam, don't forget to check out one of the local artist exhibitions which can be very much intimidating and scary at first seeing it. There are dolls hanging on a rope and not sure what they supposed to mean but it is certainly something unusual I don't normally see on a hike.
