Overview

Shinsaibashi-Suji Shopping Street is a 600-meter covered arcade in central Osaka, stretching from Nagahori-dori to Soemoncho-dori. It’s been around for over 380 years, originally developing during the Edo period as a merchant area. Over time, it’s evolved into one of the city’s busiest commercial hubs and it's now packed with global brands, independent boutiques, and local eateries. But it still holds onto its historical charm with traditional storefronts tucked between the modern ones.

What to Expect

It’s a great mix of old and new, and that’s what makes it interesting. You can shop at the latest fashion chains, then turn the corner and find a family-run kimono shop that’s been around for decades.

Access

The easiest way to get there is by train, just take the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line or Nagahori Tsurumi-ryokuchi Line to Shinsaibashi Station. From Exit 5 or 6, you’ll be right at the entrance.
