Hotel Akureyri Skjaldborg is one of Akureyri’s most dignified buildings. Built in 1924 by Akureyri’s Good-templars. A social group devoted to sobriety. The building was later transformed into a printing factory and was responsible for printing and publishing some of Iceland’s most important literature.
Hotel Akureyri has 140 rooms with a TV, desk, coffee, and tea. Each room has a private bathroom. On the ground floor is the restaurant North, operated by the Michelin chef Gunnar Karl Gíslason. Breakfast is served from 07:00 - 11:00 every day and dinner is available Wednesday - Saturday, from 18:00 - 00:00. Reservations are required for the dinner www.northrestaurant.is.
