Nachricht von Francesco Meola

Casina delle Civette is located in the beautiful Villa Torlonia park in Rome. It was originally constructed in 1840 by Venetian architect Giuseppe Jappelli and then remodeled in 1908 to its current architectural style by the nephew of Alessandro Torlonia.

The complex is comprised of a main cottage, a dependence connected through a short wooden tunnel and an underground passageway. The interior is decorated with paintings, mosaics, majolica ceramics, wrought iron, wall fabrics, carved woods, and marble sculptures.

The highlight is likely the large glass windows and walls decorated with artistic motifs such as vines and grape shoots.

It's possible to explore the rooms and halls and observe the former comforts sought for the owner, as well as interesting symbolic features like the dance of the 24-hour girls and the Phoenix rising from ashes.

The ticket to visit Casa delle Civette costs €6, but if you plan to visit more places inside Villa Torlonia, I recommend the ticket "Biglietto integrato Casino Nobile + Casina delle Civette + Serra Moresca", which also includes 2 other places and it costs €11.50 (€9.5 reduced).

Casa delle Civette is opened from Tuesday to Sunday from 9 am to 7 pm.
