This short and easy walk leads to the beautiful Chänzeli viewpoint on Mt Rigi. Since the path is obstacle-free and flat, it is a great choice for those with small children or limited mobility.

Starting at Rigi Kaltbad-First station, it's an easy walk on an obstacle-free gravel path. It ends at the Chänzeli viewpoint overlooking Lake Lucerne.

In spring, this path is lined with wildflowers, with little info boards about flowers along the way.

For a longer hike, you can start at the Rigi Staffelhohe station, hike down to Chänzeli, then across the Rigi Kaltbad-First. The first part of this trail is a footpath with uneven terrain. See trail map.

How to get there

If you are visiting the Rigi Kulm viewpoint, simply ride the mountain train down to the Rigi Kaltbad-First station (three stops down from the top). The train departs hourly. Check schedule on SBB.ch.

After the walk, you can catch the train at Rigi Kaltbad First and ride down to Vitznau for the boat.
