Honestly… the more, the better! There’s sooo much to see, and even more magic to soak up. If you're dreaming of doing the full East Coast—from Melbourne all the way up to tropical Cairns (and even beyond if you're rocking a 4WD)—we’d recommend 2–3 months or more. 🤍

Why? Because slow travel is the vibe. You’ll want the freedom to fall in love with a beach town and stay a few extra days, to take spontaneous detours, and to hop over to absolute bucket list gems like K’Gari or the Whitsundays. Trust us, you do not want to rush through those!

That said, if you’re short on time, no worries! You can still have the time of your life in just a month. In that case, we’d suggest choosing either Melbourne to Brisbane or Brisbane to Cairns — instead of cramming it all in. This is your once-in-a-lifetime adventure, not a checklist, so go where the vibes take you. 🌊

Whatever you choose, make sure to follow the sunshine — head north in winter and south in summer. Cold nights and soggy days? Definitely not the vibe.
