Gillespies Beach Campsite is one of the most uniquely beautiful places I’ve ever stayed. On one side, you’ll see far out across the ocean and on the other, you’ll be treated to jaw-dropping views of the Southern Alps, including Mount Cook (New Zealand’s tallest mountain) and Mount Tasman.
Make your way to Fox Glacier village, and from there, head west on Cook Flat Road to Gillespies Beach Road. Follow this road until you reach the campsite at the very end. You must book your site in advance through the DOC website, so be sure to do that before you arrive!
Note: There are no showers at Gillespies Beach, and you can’t drink the tap water unless it’s boiled or treated.
