The Iceline Trail is Yoho Valley's best one day hiking trail (and one of my favourites in all of BC!) Usually hiked as a 20km loop, this amazing trail showcases breathtaking alpine panoramas, spectacular waterfalls and lush subalpine meadows.
The Iceline loop is a combination of these trails:
Takakkaw Falls to Yoho Lake Trail (first 1km clockwise)
Yoho Lake Trail (next 2.6km)
Iceline Trail (following 7.8km)
Little Yoho Valley Trail (next 4.9km)
Yoho Valley Trail (final 4.5km back to Takakkaw Falls)
The total distance is 20.8km with 710m elevation gain. I rate it firmly moderate/intermediate as it is a straightforward hiking trail but you do need to be prepared to hike all day, up to 8/9 hours. More information in my Iceline hiking guide.
The trail starts and finishes in the Takakkaw Falls parking lot, at the end of the Yoho Valley Road.
A Parks Canada parks pass is required to hike this trail ($22/day for a vehicle of up to 7 people).
