Ever summitted a mountain? Even if you have, it was probably not as easy as Mount Kobau! This peak near Osoyoos is accessible by an unpaved Forest Service Road road, with a short trail leading to the 1845m high summit. The views from the top are incredible.
The higher elevation means that it is distinctly cooler at the top of Mount Kobau in the summer months compared to the valley below. The wildflowers bloom here later too.
Mount Kobau is part of the South Okanagan Grasslands Protected Area, safeguarding one of the four most endangered ecosystems in Canada. This area is part of the the proposed South Okanagan National Park Reserve.
Allow 45 minutes to an hour to drive the full length of the road to Mount Kobau as the surface can be rough and bumpy in places.
