The Belle Epoque train is a nostalgic rail journey, with train carriages beautifully styled to evoke the grandeur of early 20th-century travel.
The train travels the GoldenPass Line between Montreux and Zweisimmen, a town nestled in the Bernese Alps. On the way, you’ll pass through picturesque Swiss landscapes, including alpine peaks, vineyards, charming villages, and lakes.
Tickets & Seat Reservations
Seat reservations are optional. You can book seat reservations and/or train tickets on the Mob.ch website.
The train ticket is free with Swiss Travel Pass, Saver Day Pass, Eurail, Interrail, and GA. In this case, you would only need the optional the seat reservation.
Itinerary ideas
This train is ideal if you are traveling from Montreux to the Gstaad region, Bern or Interlaken (or vice versa). This train is not particularly suitable for a day trip from Montreux since you would just travel back and forth on the same route.
If you are visiting Gstaad, get off the train at the Gstaad train statin before reaching the final stop of Zweisimmen.
Otherwise, the Belle Epoque takes you from Montreux to Zweisimmen, a two hour journey.
In Zweisimmen, you can change to a train headed to Bern (also stopping at Spiez and Thun).
If you are going to Interlaken, you'll need to change trains again in Spiez, then continue to Interlaken Ost.
