Val Frisal is a high alpine valley at 1885 m, part of a protected nature reserve and home to one of Switzerland largest high moorlands, rich with biodiversity. It's a unique and tranquil spot, with stunning mountain views, meandering water channels, and diverse flora and fauna.

Trail: Challenging • 6 h • 13.5 k • 560m up, 940m down
See trail map (Route 678)

The trail is a constant uphill climb, following the river up the valley. You can start and end the trail in the Brigels village, no extra costs. But we chose to start by riding the chair lift to get a little jump start on the hike.

No services on the trail, so bring what you need, including plenty of drinking water. My route includes a detour to a viewpoint high above the valley, worth the effort in my opinion.

How to get there

By car: Drive to Brigels and park next to the Brigels-Waltensburg chair lift - see on map.

By train: Take a train to Tavanasa-Breil/Brigels. Then bus to Breil/Brigels, Posta. Then a 10 min walk through the village to the chair lift.
