Ayutthaya is like stepping into a real-life Indiana Jones movieancient temple ruins, massive Buddha statues, and a deep sense of history everywhere you turn. It was once the capital of Thailand (back in the 1300s), but after being destroyed in 1767, it became this epic UNESCO-listed archaeological site. If you’re into history, temples, or just cool old places, this is a must-visit.

What to See in Ayutthaya:

🏯 Wat Mahathat – The famous Buddha head wrapped in tree roots—probably the most iconic photo spot in Ayutthaya.
🔥 Wat Phra Si Sanphet – Three giant stupas that used to be part of the old royal palace. Super impressive.
🛕 Wat Chaiwatthanaram – My personal favorite—stunning riverside temple ruins that look straight out of an adventure film.
🦘 Feed the ‘temple cows’ – Some temples have adorable free-roaming cows that you can feed bananas to.

How to Get There & Get Around:

🚆 Train: The most budget-friendly way—trains leave from Bangkok’s Hua Lamphong Station (takes ~1.5-2 hours).
🚗 Private car/Grab: The fastest & easiest option (~1-hour drive).
🚲 Getting around? Rent a bike! It’s the best way to explore the temples at your own pace. Tuk-tuks are also available if you’re feeling lazy.

Pro Tips:

Go early – It gets brutally hot by midday, and there’s not much shade. Take suncream.
👗 Dress respectfully – These are sacred sites, so cover shoulders & knees.
🍜 Eat river prawns – Ayutthaya is famous for its grilled giant river prawns—try them at a riverside restaurant!

If you love history, adventure, and jaw-dropping ancient ruins, Ayutthaya is an absolute must. Perfect for a day trip from Bangkok or even an overnight stay if you want to explore at a slower pace. 🏯🔥
