Wat Traimit is home to the world’s largest solid gold Buddha—yes, solid gold! This massive 5.5-ton statue is worth millions and has one of the coolest backstories of any temple in Bangkok.

Why It’s Special:

🛕 The Golden Buddha – Over 3 meters tall, made entirely of pure gold, and hidden under plaster for hundreds of years to protect it from invading armies. It wasn’t until the 1950s that workers accidentally dropped it, revealing the gold underneath!
📖 Small but interesting museum – Tells the story of the statue, how it was moved, and its connection to Bangkok’s Chinatown.
🌆 Good views from the top – Climb up for a nice (and free) view of Chinatown’s rooftops.

Things to Know Before You Go:

📍 Location: Chinatown, near Hua Lamphong station.
💰 Entry Fee: 40 THB for the temple, 100 THB for the museum.
Opening Hours: 8 AM - 5 PM daily (best to go early before the crowds).
👗 Dress code: Shoulders & knees covered (it’s a temple, after all).

If you’re exploring Chinatown, Wat Traimit is a quick but worthwhile stop—the Golden Buddha is seriously impressive, and the story behind it makes it even cooler! ✨🐉
