Parking & Shuttle Access:

  • Lake Louise Lakeshore: Paid parking is available at the lakeshore, but it is limited and often fills very early in peak season. It works for visiting Lake Louise, but it is not the best option if your main goal is Moraine Lake.

  • Moraine Lake: Moraine Lake Road is closed to personal vehicles year-round, so you cannot drive your own car there. The easiest option is to use the Parks Canada shuttle or a licensed commercial shuttle.

  • Best Option For Both Lakes: Book the Parks Canada shuttle, park at the Lake Louise Park and Ride at the Lake Louise Ski Resort, and use the included Lake Connector if you want to see both lakes in one day. Reservations are required in advance, and parking at the Park and Ride is free for reservation holders.

Public Transportation:

  • Parks Canada Shuttle: This is the simplest option for most visitors. Shuttles run from the Lake Louise Park and Ride to both Lake Louise Lakeshore and Moraine Lake, and your reservation can include access to both lakes in one day.

  • Roam Transit: Route 8X runs between Banff, Lake Louise Village, and Lake Louise Lakeshore. It is a good option if you’re coming from Banff without a car, but it does not directly drive you to Moraine Lake on its own.

  • Private Shuttles: There are also private shuttle and tour options, but they are usually more expensive. Parks Canada allows licensed commercial operators on Moraine Lake Road during the operating season.
