Seasonality: Open year-round. Best for swimming and sunbathing in warmer months (spring to autumn).

Description of this place: Praia da Calheta is one of Madeira's most popular and unique beaches, famous for its imported golden sand from Morocco and Portugal. Unlike many of Madeira's natural pebble beaches, Calheta offers a soft, sandy shore and calm, clear waters protected by breakwaters, making it ideal for families and swimming. The beach is well-equipped with amenities including sun loungers, parasols, showers, and nearby cafes and restaurants, providing a comfortable and enjoyable beach experience on the island's sunny southwest coast.
