Description:
Kirkjufell, often called “the most photographed mountain in Iceland,” is located on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Its unique arrowhead shape, combined with the nearby Kirkjufellsfoss waterfalls, makes it one of the most iconic views in the country. The mountain gained extra fame from Game of Thrones, where it was featured as the “Arrowhead Mountain.” Visitors usually stop at the waterfalls for the classic photo spot with Kirkjufell rising in the background. Hiking the mountain is possible but only recommended for experienced climbers, as the trail is steep and dangerous. For most travelers, enjoying the view from below is more than enough.
